ASC Clinics

Recently a paper issued in the Cell Stem Cell by Paul Knoepfler cat med tourismand Leigh Turner caused a lot of commotion, since the research of the authors brought to light, that already over 500 illegal stem cell clinics operate in the US, largely since the legislation written by the FDA is unclear and simply not concise enough, to act as a deterrant for them opening them and creating a business.

Of course- there are safety issues, as always and the issue of limited research having been done, but on the other hand - one does not hear all that much of calamities or patients dying after being treated by those clinics.

Anyway- my personal attitude is, that changes are necessary- there should be FDA involvement and control, but also much improved access to new developments by patients is necessary, similar to the Managed Access Program as existent in Europe or like the new legislation in Japan.

In respect of blog RSS feeds of the Clinics below, I can vouch for with my good name, since they are led by scientists or enterpreneurs of excellent reputation, who only apply proven and safe applications of ASC therapy.

The Okyanos Clinic on the Bahama´s led by my friend Matt Feshbach, opened in October 2014 and has since treated many patients with much success, which is evidenced by the patient success stories, but also by follow-up medical check-ups. The big issues described in the category description above, are nicely explained by Feshbach on his website, which story I therefore "borrowed" in order for you to read it here to, after which the blog RSS of the Okyanos site is shown...so here´s Matt:

When I co-founded Okyanos it was—all fancy words aside—with the purpose of using cell therapy to help chronically ill patients return to a more normal life. Inherent in that has been the goal to “do it right,” meaning provide the highest standard of care to patients who are in pain or otherwise suffering. There is a lot that goes into doing it right but I would first like to highlight a concern:

Introduction

If you had- like I have- followed the scene in respect of Adult Stem Cell (ASC) technology, but mainly with an emphasis on regulatory matters, the name Regenexx and with it, its founder Chris Centeno, had an enormously important impact in its development and therefore has been an important Opinion Leader- and instrumental- in all respects of ASC. His battle against the FDA was a David versus Goliath affair- you do not beat the FDA- not in the US of A. Chris however, accepted the ruling as a good citizen should and organized his business in a perfectly legal fashion. He is a capitalist, not an Albert Schweitzer type, but thats fine - a man with principles which one can trust in addition to his cell therapies.

N.B. In the US,  a bone marrow aspiration from a patient and returned to that same patient during the same day is not under the control of the FDA and not regulated. This applies to PRP procedures too.

Of the many hundreds-, maybe even thousands of stem cell institutes, I prefer to present only three - the ones you see here- since those are the only ones about whom I have only good news and as said are run by reliable folks. Here the name Neil Riordan should be named, who I have listened to for many many hours by trying to understand his excellent video tutorials. There are even many patients to, who have described their own positive experiences  in the Institute in Panama. So - the about section of the Institute´s website is excellent and I confirm everything which is stated there and now here too...so- about themselves they write...
